The Tiguan R-Line is Volkswagen’s flagship model in the country. In terms of ride quality, one can feel the inherent stiffness in this car almost immediately. One can expect to feel a little less comfortable than the standard Tiguan, but that is to be expected since this is the R Line. Volkswagen has launched its flagship SUV at Rs 49 lakh (ex-showroom).
Let’s talk about its engine and power-
As far as performance is concerned, power comes from a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine that produces around 204bhp and 320Nm of torque, and comes mated to a seven-speed DSG gearbox. There are also ‘off-road’ and ‘snow’ drive modes, thanks to VW’s 4Motion electronic four-wheel drive system. Power delivery from the said motor is smooth, it comes in with a decent burst of power right from above 2,000rpm. It feels like a tractable engine, with one able to easily switch between driving in a calm manner and driving like a hooligan. The seven-speed DSG gearbox complements the engine well, and one can quickly shift up and down thanks to the paddle shifters.

Moreover, the 10.25-inch digital instrument console is rich in texture, and easy to read. The cabin is enhanced by a 38.1 cm infotainment system, new multi-function driving profiles with integrated TFT LCD display and a 26.04 cm digital cockpit. It has “Ergo Active” seats with massage function that are equipped with adjustable lumbar support (3-zone air-conditioning), Park Assist Plus with park distance control and inductive charging for two smart phones. Sporty exterior with an aggressive bumper and 19-inch alloys.
Apart from this, it has ambient lighting of 30 colours, panoramic sunroof, door handle recess welcome light along with surround light, this SUV looks quite beautiful.
Safety features-
The new Tiguan R-Line comes with 21 Level-2 ADAS (Advanced Driving Assistance System) features. This SUV comes with 9-airbags which is a first in the segment. Which is being offered for tThis SUV gets a 5-star safety rating in the Euro NCAP crash test.
